Quinn getting stitches out

When we walked in the nurse had remembered us from our previous visit. She called him super baby because he was such a fighter and from how strong he was. She called in the recruits; three other nurses came in.  Two nurses held him down while one pulled the stitches out.  He did a horrible job.  He opened his wound again.  That's when I noticed that his badge said "student".  He was having a hard time getting the last one out and finally the one that had helped us before took the utensil from him and just took it out.  You'd think that she would have just done it from the start especially since she remembered how hard he fought and him being a toddler.  Mike was not happy about the service we received.  In reality, we should have just taken them out at home.  We had the tools.  Oh well!

Pregnancy Pictures

I've gotten a few requests to show pictures of my pregnancy.  So, here are all the pictures I've taken so far.  It's not much.  I need to be better and take more.  They'll be fun to look at later.  For now, I feel very unattractive and don't desire my picture to be taken.

The dates are exact but the weeks are estimated.  I didn't want to take the time to figure it out.

I have my c-section scheduled for March 15th. It's kind of weird knowing exactly when my baby will be born. So that means I have 6 weeks and 5 more days left. That's not much time. It makes it all nerve-wrecking but also exciting at the same time.

I'm still hoping that I'll have a natural birth.  Pray for me that I will!  The doctor says that chances aren't high.  He claims that it's very dangerous and a lot of insurance companies won't pay out for natural births after a cesearan.  He said with my history it's probably better to do a cesearan.  It doesn't mean I have to like it.

I felt jipped with Quinn.  I want to hold my baby and not wait to be stitched and have him have his bath.  Even though I had an epidural, I was determined to be with Quinn.  I walked to the nursery (remember you're not supposed to be able to walk for some time after an epidural or a c-section).  It made those nurses hurry.  He was in my room in no time.

Poor little boy!

Quinn had only napped for an hour today. He was really clingy and needy. He was coming toward me, tripped over his blanket, and fell. He hit the corner of a wooden chair. It's the chair where his booster sits when he eats. I immediately picked him up and knew he was hurt. I didn't know what he injured since he buried his face into my shoulder. He clinged onto me and wouldn't let go. I had to coax him to look at me. Then I saw the pile of blood streaming down his face. His eye had be gashed open. Surprisingly, he didn't cry for long.

This part of the story doesn't make sense to a lot of people.  Quinn has done this before.  He has a scar on the other eye from where he fell and hit the corner of our couch when it's reclined.  We didn't take him in to get stitches.  Instead a neighbor, an endodontist, came over and helped super glue the wound shut.

I called the neighbor (not the endodontist) to help me this time.  It worked last time...why not this time? Everything was going smoothly and we were waiting for it to dry.  The neighbor decided she needed to try to close the wound with her fingers.  When she touched it, the glue fell right into his eye.  That's when I knew we were in trouble.

I immediately flushed it out and called poison control.  They told me to take him straight to the ER.  So, that's what I did.  On the way, I had called Mike.  I explained what had happened.

I hated telling the nurses what had happened.  They didn't judge me and they said that this definitely wasn't the first case of super glue in the eye they've run into. They gave Quinn some gel in his eye to take the glue out.  His eye is back to normal and doing well.

Quinn ended up with 4 stitches.  It would have been 3 but the doctor made a new laceration because Quinn would not hold still.  He was such a fighter the whole time.  Even when they were putting the numbing gel on his eye he fought.  It was nice that they didn't have to give him shots.  We had to wait at least 40 minutes for it to numb.  During our wait, a trauma had come in, so our wait ended up being about 3 hours.  We didn't get home until 9:00.  The incident happened at 5:30.  Good thing American Idol was on T.V. to entertain us.  We don't have cable at home.

What a sad face!

We were there so long...the bed was tempting.

Quinn in better spirits.

They let us keep the tools they used to stitch Quinn.

Enjoying the snow

It was such a nice evening that Mike and I decided to take Quinn out. We first shoveled our driveway and Quinn helped with that as well. We put him in the sled and pulled him down the street. Mike would make him spin and Quinn thought it was so fun. He was full of laughter.

Celebrating Mike's birthday with friends

We went over to Dale and Sonnet's for cake and ice cream. Afterward we played Wits and Wagers.  We then decided to go downstairs where the kids can free range of toys.  They had just got the kinect so we opted to play.  We first played just dance 3.  The girls went first.  After much prodding and coaxing, the boys finally also joined in and did one dance.

Mike in action...
We then played the different sports they had.  It was a lot of fun.
This is what Quinn did while we played the kinect.  He was a good boy for the most part.  He was a little tired so therefore that made him needy.  Who can blame him?

I just put this picture in there because I thought it was cute of Quinn.  It has nothing to do with this post.
