The happenings of my life

Looking back I can't really recall anything that has happened or changed in my life for quite some time. I've sure been busy...with what I'm not quite sure.

I'll start telling you about work. I blogged earlier about how my 14-year-old client went to jail. He was released about three weeks ago. When I found out I was so relieved. He appeared in court and was given three years of probation, assigned to jump court, 30 hours of community service, and has to make restitution to those he has offended. Compared to what could have happened this was nothing.

We found him a job and he's started working cleaning a basement. The person that he works for was a teacher for 20 years and wants her things organized. This will take some time but sure is worth it. At least it will help with the $75 he owes every month.

My 60-year-old client has been ignoring me and I haven't worked with her for almost a week. She has court this week and most likely won't be around next week. We'll see what happens.

Besides work...We've been spending a lot of time with his family since his parents are getting prepared to serve a mission for 18 months in Salt Lake City. We even missed our Valentine's Day. That's ok. We already made plans to celebrate it this coming weekend. We've been hanging out with friends and doing whatever may come our way.

Let the giving begin!!!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year. (might be a little while)
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on their blog. The first 5 people to do so, and leave a comment telling me they did, win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

Going on a mission

I admire Gene and Karen so much. They have been preparing now for quite some time to go on a mission. They had to go through a lot to get to where they are now. Watching what it takes, I now know that this isn't something easy. I also know that they will be blessed. They are going to Salt Lake City. They leave this Friday. They are supposed to be in a two bedroom apartment but their apartment isn't ready for them. They are going to have to settle for the one bedroom for now. Gene decided they needed a vacation beforehand so they are in Hawaii. They return on Thursday (cutting it close).

Thank you Gene and Karen for all that you have done for Mike and I. You have been so wonderful and I couldn't have asked for better in-laws.

Hope is on the way...

Work has been a little crazy for me these last couple of weeks. First of all, my 14-year-old client managed to get himself in jail. He was at home and got into an arguement with his sisters. He became so angry that he hit one of them in the arm with a candlestick. His sister thought that she was a threat to her niece that she called the cops. In the process of the cops getting there, they managed to destroy the whole front living room. This includes a nice plasma television. My client was the only one that was hauled off. Since he was already on probation and recently just got out of BHC they decided to put him in jail.

While he was in BHC he had a change to his medication. They think part of the problem was that he missed a dose and that is what made him fly off the handle.

The reason why I feel so relieved is that he was just recently released. My job is to work with him and make sure that he doesn't go back. Wish me luck!!! I have a lot of hope for this kid. I know he has a lot of potential as well. I wish I could do more but my hands are tied.

While this kid was in jail, my work decided to give me a new client. I don't want to give too much details just in case someone might know this person. With details, it wouldn't be hard to identify them. Let's say that I feel really overwhelmed. This person has so many problems that I don't even know where to start. Right now, this person is fighting a DUI and a felony. I helped her with paperwork so far since she doesn't know how to read or write. After the paperwork, I'm not sure on what I'm supposed to do. I've never even been close to the same situation. The funny thing is; I asked my supervisors on advice on how to handle this person and they were all dumbfounded. At least I'm not the only one. The problem is that I'm working with this person and they're not. We'll see what happens. Maybe I won't have the client by the end of the month due to being in prison.

Carpeted stairs

Mike wanted me to show off his proud work. Yeah, he all of a sudden decided to carpet our stairs leading to our unfinished basement. At first, I didn't really care if our stairs were carpeted or not but now I've really enjoyed them. It sure is nice to have when carrying laundry up and down the stairs. Oh, it is so soft and cumfy!!!
