Mini Roommate Reunion

Alicia is my old roommate from my second year of college. I've been talking to Alicia for over a year now through texting. She got my phone number off of facebook. (How scary is that? I didn't even know it was on there. That's when I had to make sure to take it off.) We'd just ask each other questions about being first time moms or whatever happens to be on our mind. We always said that we wished we lived closer. Our boys would have so much fun together since they're only a month apart. We finally agreed it was time to meet up to see each other. We were both curious about each other's child. We talk about them constantly.

Amelia, another old roommate of mine, also lives in Idaho Falls. Alicia was coming to visit her sister that lives in Rexburg and wanted to see us too. We made plans (and changed our minds a lot) to have dinner at Amelia's house.

It ended up being a perfect spot for our reunion. Tim and Mike went downstairs after dinner to watch a movie while us girls stayed upstairs. We just caught up on old times. It's weird to think we all have kids now and about the changes that have happened over the years.

Our kids
(I couldn't get two of the pictures to work... so this is what you get. I stole them from Alicia's blog since I didn't bring my camera.)

It was really good to see you Alicia! We need to get together more often. Maybe next time Amelia and I can go down to Utah to see the old roommates that live there...

Give it up for ThE ChUkArS!!!

We had to go and enjoy BYU-Idaho Alumni night...oh, and the wonderful picnic too. I was kind of worried about bringing Quinn to the game. But...he did awesome! Woot, wootttt, dawoott!

He had those around him dazzled. He only had one thing on his mind...a Gatorade bottle. In the background of this picture you can see the guy's legs. Right under his legs he had his Gatorade and Quinn wanted it SO bad. He spent most of the time trying to get it. When he finally did; he became so upset to find that he couldn't have it. That was probably his worst moment. He got over it quickly. Phew!

Notice Quinn's festive outfit? Yeah, he was ready and excited for the game all day. He kept asking if it was time to go.

This is my friend Nashina with her boy Abram. She came without her husband since he was fulfilling his church calling the young men in his ward. She lived below us in Rigby and her family is from Ririe. So, we have many connections. I sat by her and my other friend Kim. Mike was down the row a bit with Kim's husband and other friends of ours.

I thought Quinn would love this bird. He loves all sorts of animals and things. He wasn't afraid of the baby duckies when they came in our yard (though they were a lot smaller). I wondered if he thought it would be cool to be held by a giant mascot bird named Charley (I think that's his name). Nope, as you can tell by the two bottom pictures; he hated it...bad! I do think the last one turned out well considering. That giant bird was sure cooperative...and cool!

Afterward, we went to Sonic to help celebrate the Chukars stealing, not one, but two bases during the game. We got some free drinks. Quinn was so tired by this time but he still was a super good boy. He just sat in his stroller. He drank most of Mike's slushie and surprisingly didn't get a brain freeze. Amazing! Now, we're going to use our tickets for half off of an oil change. Good deals, huh?

Quinn can walk!

Quinn finally learns how to walk. He's been so close for so long. Like I said before, he just lacked the confidence. Each day he would take a few more and then a few more. Finally, one day he just took off. I can't believe his speed either.

He's so cute. We've been clapping for him and shouting "Hooray" when he takes steps. Now, before he takes his steps, he begins to clap for himself. It's a way for him to prepare us and to let us know to clap for him too. He definitely is proud of himself. He for sure knows we are proud of him as well!

When he walks, it's like he's a drunken soldier. Everyone said I'd hate it because he'll start getting into everything. Well, the truth is; he was mobile enough that he already was. I absolutely love that he is walking. I'm so proud of my little man even though he's now 14 months old.

He likes to hold onto a golf club as he circles around the house. It reminds me of a blind man's stick...but he's drunk while using it. He made Mike and I laugh a lot this night. We got him at the tail end when he was getting tired so he isn't quite as funny. You'll get the point.
